JV's entry into music started from early days when he would do a show a Wednesday at school, playing soul music prior to DJ Blacka's reggae sessions later in the day. This continued throughout his time at college.
As a passionate lover of Urban Contemporary Soul, /Jazz/ Funky/ Two-Step music with its roots embedded with funk, jazz fusion, hip hop, nu-jazz/soul and African music to pop, rock, and electronic dance music styles, that's what he is delivering
For the past five years he has been working closely with Leicester Community Radio Station and the DJ crew, delivering some of the funkiest and latest soulful and dance rhythms from Independent and unknown artists, with a particular slant towards homegrown UK talent.
These include the British Collective, Omar, Celeste, Kadeem Tyrell, Lauren Faith and so many more …
If it's good, he's going to play it!
JV enjoys music on the fringes of non-descriptive genres, trying not to box in a particular category or style, you can call it what you like.
Additionally, he would not say that soul/funk/Neo/Soulful House and Hip Hop were his first love, that accolade would go to his passion for reggae! It is still one he indulges in especially Lovers & Revival Lovers and he gives compliments to those groups and individuals like, Peter Hunningale and Arema, but to name a few who are still active and have stood the test of time.
If you are an independent artist or group, then JV's is the platform where you're gonna get heard.
